Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum Official for Dallas, Tickets on Sale April 15

Strikeforce has officially announced their next event set to go down on June 18 in Dallas, Tex. with the next round of the heavyweight Grand Prix leading the way.

The card will feature Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem against Fabricio Werdum in the main event, along with Josh Barnett taking on Brett Rogers to close out the opening round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.

The other bouts officially announced for the card include two heavyweight match-ups that could serve as alternates to the Grand Prix, should anyone get injured or be unable to continue.

Former U.S. Olympian Daniel Cormier faces Shane Del Rosario in one match-up, while Chad Griggs takes on Valentijn Overeem in the other featured bout.

Also officially announced for the June card is the return of Strikeforce fighter Gina Carano, against an as of yet unknown opponent.

One fight that was prematurely announced for the card through a slip up was former Strikeforce champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal against Ovince St. Preux. Strikeforce official Mike Afromowitz later confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that the fight between Lawal and St. Preux was not happening on the June 18 card, and it was an error.

Tickets for the event will go on sale April 15 at 10am CT, and will air live on Showtime on June 18 starting at 10pm ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
