A middleweight main event pairing former UFC title contender Patrick Cote with “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 semifinalist Kalib Starnes will headline the show, along with a welterweight title bout pitting the unbeaten Alex Garcia against “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 11 alum Seth Baczynski.
Gagnon last appeared at Ringside MMA “Rage” in April 2010, when he submitted Guillaume Lamarche with a first-round guillotine choke at the Maurice Richard Arena in Quebec. The 26-year-old Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada, native has secured all six of his victories by first-round submission. Anchored in Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, Gagnon will carry a four-fight winning streak into the match. He suffered his only career defeat in a unanimous decision loss to Bellator Fighting Championships alum William Romero two years ago.
Spawned by Team Bergeron in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada, Groulx has finished four of his first five professional foes, three of them by submission. The 27-year-old last fought at Ringside MMA “Payback” in November, when he coaxed a tapout from Stephane Bernadel with a second-round armbar at the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau in Montreal.
Meanwhile, former Maximum Fighting Championship and Extreme Cage Combat light heavyweight titleholder Roger Hollett will collide with Martin Desilets in a No. 1 contender’s matchup. Hollett, who underwent reconstructive knee surgery in 2008, will enter the bout on the strength of a three-fight winning streak.
