UFC 127: Fitch vs. Penn Weigh-In Results

A packed house in Australia greeted the fighters for UFC 127, with both the main event and co-main event fighters giving two of the most intense staredowns fans have ever seen.

Both Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn made weight with no issues, but then came nose to nose and forehead to forehead when staring down.

“I’m pumped to be fighting B.J. Penn, he’s a legend, I respect him, but I’ve got to beat him. He has what I want,” Fitch said.

Penn who received probably the loudest ovation from the Australian crowd, kept his words short and to the point.

“This is huge,” Penn stated about the fight. “I’ll do my talking in the ring tomorrow.”

The most intense moment came when Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera met again on the stage after weighing in for their co-main event bout. Bisping immediately started pointing and shouting at Rivera, who in turn shouted back at his opponent. Rivera’s cornerman Matt Phinney also got a few words launched his way after portraying Bisping in a series of videos leading up to the fight, and he also wore a t-shirt mocking the Brit at the weigh-ins.

The other interesting note to come out of the weigh-ins was lightweight Dennis Siver, who weighed in at 71.2 kilos, which when converted to pounds comes out to 156.9lbs, which would be over the contracted weight limit. The UFC made no reference to the overage at the weigh-ins, or if he’ll need to weigh-in again to make the limit.
