Round 1: Snapping leg kick by Tavares and we are under way. Baroni with a different corner, to say the least–Mark Coleman, Jon Fitch, and Javier Mendes. Baroni using good head movement, trying to get inside but Tavares isn’t fooled, he is staying calm. A minute in and no action, the crowd boos. A huge left hook by Baroni drops Tavares against the cage and Baroni rushes in to finish! Tavares manages to recoup and grab ahold of Baroni and pull him into half-guard. What a punch by Phil, I don’t know how Tavares survived. Tavares tries to stand up but Baroni controls his neck and posture with a guillotine. A left hook by Baroni during a separation tags Tavares. Tavares with the Thai clinch and a few knees to the body of Baroni as both fighters are now against the cage. Tavares looks on a single-leg but Baroni sprawls easily, and they are now back to their feet. The fighters clinch and Tavares has Baroni pinned against the cage using dirty boxing and knees to the thighs. A knee to Tavares’ groin halts the action briefly. A solid left jab by Tavares stuns Baroni and he follows with a high kick and Baroni is hurt! Tavares comes in with a flurry of punches and Baroni crumples to the canvas and Josh Rosenthal steps in, this one is over! What a comeback win for Brad Tavares!
