Randy Couture One-on-One: Is The UFC Still In His Future?

Randy Couture suffered an eye fracture in a loss to Ricco Rodriguez in 2002. Pushing 40 years of age at the time, Couture was then pushing the limits of most people’s expectations of the lifespan of a competitive athlete, particularly in combat sports.

“A lot of guys don’t recover from those kinds of injuries,” said Couture at this past weekend’s Fight Summit in Las Vegas.

Couture credits his time on the national wrestling team and sports psychology for helping forge the mental fortitude it takes to maintain a career that sees him still competing at 47 years old.

Following the Fight Summit, Couture sat down with MMAWeekly.com’s Scott Petersen to talk about the various ventures he is currently undergoing as an actor and in other businesses.

He also addressed the latest blow-up about whether or not he is ready to call it quits as a fighter and whether we will ever see him in the Octagon again. Does Couture still have the fire inside that it takes to compete against the best fighters in the world?
