FEG Announces K-1, Dream Co-Promotion Dec. 31


Fighting and Entertainment Group, the parent company of K-1 and Dream, announced plans for Dynamite 2009 on New Year’s Eve at a press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday.

According to the K-1 Web site, the event will be held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, and will air on Japan’s TBS television. HDNet will carry the show in North America, according to MMAJunkie.com.

No matchups have been announced, but a there are a number of rumored bouts for the mixed martial arts and kickboxing card.

Masato Kobayashi, a long-time kickboxing favorite in Japan, will likely headline the event. The tournament final for the Dream Super Hulk tournament, featuring Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Ikuhisa Minowa, may also end up on the card.

Other key fighters expected to compete include Tatsuya Kawajiri, Shinya Aoki, Kazushi Sakuraba, Hayato Sakurai, Alistair Overeem, Tim Sylvia and Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto.
