Steele Cage/IFO Closes Shop, Assetts Sold to SUN Sports and Entertainment

SUN Sports and Entertainment, Inc., the parent company of the Art of War MMA organization, has acquired International Fighting Organization (IFO) assets, including the production and broadcast film library of its events promoted by Steele Cage Promotions.

SUN made the announcement in a press release that was issued on Thursday.

News that the IFO had ceased operations — and that company executives planned to sell off the company’s assets — surfaced earlier this week.

“We are… delighted to be able to acquire all the raw footage and finished broadcast production of the IFO events promoted by Steele Cage Promotions, which we plan on distributing globally,” SUN CEO CJ Cumo stated. “We feel that the film inventory will be a great compliment to the Art of War film inventory, which will provide more available product to networks and distributors worldwide.”

The Las Vegas-based IFO, which was founded by Hall of Fame boxing referee Richard Steele, held four shows in its short five-month existence. All four events took place in Las Vegas hotel-casinos, and many former UFC fighters — including Marvin Eastman, Travis Wiuff, Rich Clementi and Josh Haynes — competed for the organization.

SUN is a certified and licensed combat-sports promoter and produces MMA events. Its properties include SUN Sports & Entertainment, Art of War Live, International Fighters Association, USA Menâ??s National Team and Underground Cage Fighting.
