FiveOuncesOfPain.com (www.FiveOuncesOfPain.com) has learned from a representative at the American Kickboxing Academy that middleweight prospect Matt Major is not involved with the upcoming seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
Major had been rumored as being involved with the show ever since TUF 7 was announced by Spike TV and the UFC last year.
Major gained notoriety during a summer appearance on the Versus’ MMA reality show “TapouT.” During the course of the show, the creators of the TapouT clothing line were shown escorting Major cross-country from California to his pro debut on a regional show held in Decatur, Illinois.
Major was victorious in the bout, which was taped in April of 2007, when he recorded a unanimous decision over Adrian Hopson. While he was unable to finish a winded Hopson, Major showed tremendous raw athletic ability and dynamic striking skills.
However, Major garnered the most attention when he was shown as being involved in a shouting match with a local-based fighter that tried to offer him some guidance immediately following his debut. The verbal altercation nearly became physical.
Many fans felt that the volatile personality displayed by Major on “TapouT” would translate well on “The Ultimate Fighter.” While the middleweight prospect is definitely someone fans should keep an eye on in the future, they will not get a chance to see him on TUF this year.
