The pending disciplinary cases of Nate Diaz, Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar will move one step closer to resolution on Thursday.
According to the public schedule for the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s meeting in Las Vegas, the trio of fighters are each scheduled for hearings on a “proposed adjudication agreement,” or settlement.
MMAjunkie is in the process of filing a public records request to obtain a copy of the settlements. It’s not yet known whether their details will be disclosed during the meeting; in January, the NSAC quickly voted to settle Nick Diaz’s third marijuana case without deliberation. Diaz later struck a payment arrangement with the commission for a $75,000 fine that will allow him to fight again.
Jones’ settlement agreement was confirmed in principle last week, with the NSAC expected to mirror UFC anti-doping partner USADA’s one-year suspension of the former light heavyweight champ after a pair of banned estrogen blockers were found in an out-of-competition test prior to his scheduled fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.
Prior to schedule’s release, Diaz and Lesnar both awaited a hearing with the NSAC on their respective cases and received multiple continuances. The commission sought to discipline Lesnar (6-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) for a banned estrogen enhancer found in multiple drug tests for his UFC 200 fight against Mark Hunt (12-11-1 MMA, 7-5-1 UFC); his attorneys tested eye medication and foot cream as the potential source of the banned substance.
Diaz (19-11 MMA, 14-9 UFC), meanwhile, was on the hook for his role in a press-conference melee with UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) prior to their rematch at UFC 202. McGregor is currently challenging a $150,000 fine levied by the NSAC for his role in the incident (Check out video of the incident above).
